Following the Thread

​​Following the Thread, is a series of work created for a solo exhibition at Queens Park Arts Centre in Aylesbury at the end of 2021.The themes of my work focused on the journey of my family through indentured labour to Guyana, and as part of the Windrush generation coming to the UK in the 1950’s.   It is about identity, culture, heritage and the Indian, indenture and double diaspora experience.  The exhibition contained 55 pieces of work, which also included some of my crafting illustrations.  Nine of the larger pieces were then on display at Matthew's Yarn, Croydon for 8 months in 2022.  Below are a few pieces and the work in this series continues.  Read about the context behind Following the thread here: www.stabroeknews.com/2021/11/08/features/in-the-diaspora/following-the-thread-with-artist-salina-jane/
